The civil supplies department on Tuesday issued a circular making Aadhaar enrolment compulsory for obtaining ration and LPG cylinders from August 1. In the circular, the chief rationing officer, Mr K.R.B.H.N. Chakravarthy, appealed to people in the twin cities to enrol themselves at their nearest Aadhaar centre to avoid inconvenience. For the list of Aadhaar centres and their contact numbers, people can visit the civil supplies website, www.apcivilsupplies.gov.in or www.aadhaar.ap.gov.in.
Aadhaar applications can be obtained at fair price shops, gas distribution agencies, circle offices and Aadhaar centres, the officials maintained. Quoting the circular, civil supply department officials said that either the Aadhaar enrolment receipt or the Aadhaar number has to be produced when obtaining ration from next month. Colonies that have about 200 families yet to be enrolled can approach the civil supplies department to set up a temporary Aadhaar centre in their vicinity.
The department is also looking for retired employees who can be roped in for the Aadhaar enrolment for which they will be suitably compensated. Aadhaar officials can be contacted on the following numbers: 8008301401, 8008301402, 8008301403, 8008301404, 8008301405, 8008301406, 8008301407, 8008301408 and 8008301409. Deccan Chronicle
