No withdrawal of chalo assembly call: Raghavulu

Hyderabad: The CPI(M) State Secretary, Mr B V Raghavulu, who was arrested by the police in an attempt to foil his indefinite fast on the problems of the SCs and STs, is continuing his fast in the Gandhi Hospital.

The CPM leader told the media on Sunday that the State government was trying to suppress people’s movements through force. He made it clear that there would be no change in the proposed Chalo Assembly programme proposed by his party on March 22. He said the government should enact legislation for the SC, ST sub-plan.

According to the information, the CPI(M) was trying to bring one lakh people to the State capital in connection with the programme. Mr Raghavulu and party leaders Mr Veerayya, Nagayya and Baburao were arrested at midnight by the police and shifted to the Gandhi Hospital. There was a scuffle between party workers and the police on the occasion.

Meanwhile, doctors attending on Mr Raghavulu said that his blood sugar levels have come down by 50 per cent on Sunday. (NSS)
