Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha Member and senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao on Friday suggested that the state Congress cadre who have been loyal to the party be assigned to the task of taking the government schemes and programmes to the doorsteps of people by being accommodated in the nominated posts.
Talking to media persons at his residence in Amberpet, the senior leader stated that the Congress should give priority to those loyal workers who have worked relentlessly for the party and ensure that they are nominated for important posts.
He said that the filling up of nominated posts with the loyal workers would give enthuse them and help the party in taking government schemes and programmes to the doorsteps of the people.
Mr Hanumantha Rao also appealed to the party High Command to organise `Medho Madhanam’ programmes to set right organisational matters and take not of the difficulties faced by party workers in highlighting the government schemes and programmes.
The senior leader appealed to Congress In-Charge of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad to take the initiative in this regard and conduct Medho Madhanam on the lines Digvijay Singh, the earlier in-charge of state who had conducted first Medho Madanam in the state.
The Medho Madhanam would play an important role in the party’s bid to retain power in the 2014 elections and it would also help the party guide its loyal workers properly, Mr Hanumantha Rao said.
He added that he had written a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi stressing on the importance of Medho Madanam.
The senior leader also demanded High Command initiate action against those who are indulging in anti-party activities and damaging the image of the party.
He reiterated that the Congress party would stand by its earlier stated promise for Backward Class reservation in the Local Body elections.(INN)
