Breaking his silence over the rumblings heard within the party in the past few weeks, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday claimed that the party stood united with the support of NTR family.
On his 62nd birthday, Naidu said his son Lokesh’s marriage with N Balakrishna’ daughter had strengthened the bond between the two families. “Now, the wedding of Jr NTR with my niece will bring the two families closer.”
Replying to questions over the succession row, he said the reports in the media were mere speculation. He, however, did not rule out Lokesh’s entry into politics. “I have told him that if he is interested in politics, it should be to serve the people and not to amass wealth. At the moment, he is too busy handling family business. At times, he gives me some advice on certain issues. That is all and nothing more,” he added.
Earlier, Balakrishna who went to Naidu’s house to greet him told media that there were no differences within the family. “We all want Naidu to become the chief minister again and we are working in that direction. It is all media creation and only media has to put an end to it.”
Interestingly, party senior leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy who has been keeping away from party activities, also called on Naidu and wished him on his birthday. TOI
