Hyderabad: Pointing out that as many as 2324 promises made by elected representatives to the people remained unfulfilled, Chairman of AP Assembly Assurances Committee Adala Prabhakara Reddy on Monday blamed the laid-back attitude of the officials to be the reason.

Talking to media persons at Congress Legislature Party office after submitting a report to Speaker Nadendla Manohar in his Chambers, Mr Prabhakara Reddy said that 2324 promises were pending from 1985 till date.

“The problems are piling up day-by-day, particularly in Revenue and Panchayat Raj Departments, due to the indifferent attitude of the officials,” he said.

“Once a problem is received from the people, we refer it to officials concerned and they should respond on it within next 30 days. However, the officials have failed to take action on the problems and led to piling up of cases,” he explained.

He said that the Assurances Committee had studied 202 cases and found solutions to 122 of these cases.

Mr Prabhakara Rao also revealed that while submitting the report to the Speaker, he had appealed to Mr Manohar to direct the officials to cooperate with the elected representatives in fulfilling the promises made to the people.

“If the officials responded promptly and taken action on timely basis, the people’s promises would have been fulfilled long ago,” he pointed out.(INN)
