Officials told to oversee NREGS for farm labourers

Hyderabad: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday directed Rural Development Department Commissioner Jayalakshmi to visit the Godavari districts to oversee the works to provide employment under MGNREGS to the agricultural labourers in case of non-cultivation of Kharif in some areas in those districts.

It may be recalled that the officials of East Godavari district have already identified Rs 50 crore worth works under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in 13 Mandals.

While reviewing with the officials, the Chief Minister has also asked the Agriculture Department Commissioner Usha Rani and other concerned officials to work out the possibilities to provide timely distribution of seed, fertilizers, loans, release of water in case of rescheduling of timings for early Rabi and Kharif-2012 in coordination with the other departments.

Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy also directed all the district Collectors to ensure that all the licensed cultivators get the loans in coordination with the Bankers in their respective districts.(INN)
