Hyderabad: Task Force sleuths on Saturday revealed that they had conducted a raid on Shree Hari Mobiles shop, Jagadish Market, Abids, Hyderabad on Friday and apprehended one person for tampering IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers illegally in mobile phones.

The raiding party also seized one Spiderman Box, one computer system and one China made I-Phone from the possession of accused.

Giving details, the police said that Navneeth Singh alias Naveen Singh is a mobile repairman working in the Shree Hari Mobile Shop and a native of the city.

After failing SSC Navneeth Singh learnt mobile repairing work and joined as technician with one Sanjay in Jagadish Market.

While working with Sanjay he learnt how to tamper and implant IMEI numbers in China mobiles and also arrested in 2010.

He came out on bail and few months back he started his own mobile servicing and repairing centre in Jagadish Market by taking small portion in Shree Hari Mobiles.

With an intension to earn easy money he purchased special equipment in Koti and with the help of Special gadgets (Spider Man Box) started tampering with IMEI Number of customers who approached him.

He used to charge Rs 300 to Rs 500 for each mobile depending on the customers.

Due to the rebuilding/changing and tampering of IMEI number, the source of tracking the cell phone will become difficult.

IMEI number is unique to every instrument which is given by the manufacturer of the instrument and allows calls to be traced through electronic surveillance.

It is not possible for Police to detect the stolen cell phones if the IMEI number is changed.

Knowing this fact, Navneeth Singh changed the IMEI numbers

The arrested accused person along with seized material is handed over to SHO, Abids PS for taking necessary action.(INN)
