Hyderabad: A life saving project “Oneness Online Blood Bank” www.onenesscare.org. was inaugurated by the MLC and well-known educationist, Mr Chukka Ramaiah, at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan here today. Some 500 Oneness volunteers donated blood for the children of Thalassemia. The Sickle Cell Society organised the blood camp. The www.onenesscare.org. will provide a platform for the willing blood donors to get registered over the web and to be called when required.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ramaiah said Technology was growing leaps and bounds but humanity was deteriorating. “Human race is not growing along with the growing technology. We lay greater emphasis on learning and embracing new technologies, but we don’t recognize the importance of human values. The way we embrace technology, we must embrace humanity and help develop the society by helping the poor and deserved. The values are deteriorating. Be humane to the society needs and issues,” Mr Ramaiah added.
Every year, India requires about 40 million units of blood out of which only a meager five lakh units of blood was available. Hundred’s of people die due to lack of blood. All those aged between 18 and 65 years with a minimum weight of 50 kg and willing to donate blood are invited to be a part of this life-saving project. Those willing to donate blood are invited to register themselves online at “www.onenesscare.org.” One need not become a doctor to save lives, just by donating blood one can give the gift of life, said the organisers.
