Hyderabad: The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, has directed the higher officials concerned to identify old buildings in dilapidated condition and demolish them immediately and prevent building collapses and loss of precious lives in future.
The Chief Minister, this morning, reviewed the situation with the Chief Secretary, Mr S V Prasad, and other higher officials concerned following death of a woman in the collapse of a minaret of the Nizamia Tibbi Unani Hospital building near Charminar in the Old City.
Stating that the government had recently sanctioned Rs 4 crores for the development of the Unani Hospital building, the Chief Minister has asked the officials to inquire into the circumstances that led to the crash of one of the minarets of the ancient building which was in a dilapidated condition. He also suggested to the officials to initiate immediate measures and ensure that no such incidents recur in future.
The Chief Minister also directed the officials to pay compensation to the kin of the deceased woman as per rules in force.
