Hyderabad: Expressing happiness over the MLC election results, the PCC president, Mr D Srinivas, has said that the party will take a serious view of a section of party MLAs who tried to defeat the senior leader Mr Mohd Jani. He opined that the results must leave mental agony to those who did not cast their vote to Mr Mohd Jani.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday, Mr Srinivas said that the vote counting for the MLC election from the Assembly constituency held like a 20-20 match in a tense situation. The results were unexpected for many. He said that the Chief Minister and he were confident of results. Congratulating the Congress, PRP and MIM MLAs for casting their vote accordingly, Mr Srinivas conveyed special thanks to the Chief Minister for deciding priority order and allocating the responsibility to some people.
Dubbing a section of MLAs, who cast their votes to MIM candidate and made an open statement was unfortunate, the PCC Chief said that it was not proper to them to try to defeat a Minority candidate, Mr Mohd Jani, who has good record in the party and also late Dr YSR’s loyalist. Finding fault with those MLAs who made open statement before the results that they succeeded in defeating Mr Mohd Jani in a section of media, Mr Srinivas said that it proved how they respected the Minorities.
Expecting that they would change their attitude in future, Mr Srinivas said that the MLC elections have proved the Congress party’s strength in the State. He said that the State Congress was giving this victory to AICC president, Ms Sonia Gandhi.
Responding on whether the party would take action against the MLAs who cast their vote against the party directions, the PCC Chief said ‘wait and watch’. He also opined that there was no punishment as this results in mental agony and advised them to change their attitude at least now. He made it clear that the party was not taking action against them for various reasons and said that the party had its own strategy on how to win the MLC elections.
The Chief Minister has given a choice to change their option to cast their vote, he said that some of them dared to change their option but some of them deceived the party by voting against the party interests.
When asked that even Congress has got votes from other parties, he said that victory in elections was important and as to how won the election was not important. He said that it was not good to deceive the party by giving assurance.
Exuding confidence on winning the Local Body Elections, he said that the party has given a B-form to Mr Patil Venugopal Reddy from Ananthapur and ultimately he was the party candidate. He said that he don’t know the reason as to why Mr JC Diwakar Reddy said something against Mr Patil Venugopal Reddy.
Refuting the TRS charges against him, Mr Srinivas said that he never criticized the TRS party and added that he only asked Mr KCR to change approach to achieve separate Telangana. (NSS)
