Hyderabad: The State BC Welfare Association president Mr R Krishnaiah has urged the PCC Chief Mr D Srinivas to fight with the Centre on behalf of BCs, for amending the Constitution on BC reservation.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan premises here on Tuesday after submitting a memorandum to the PCC Chief in this regard, Mr Krishnaiah said that the UPA government has to introduce the bill in the Parliament to amend the Constitution. The State Panchayat Raj Minister Mr K Jana Reddy has assured the BCs that the present 34 per cent reservation will be continued in the forthcoming local body elections, he said and added that it will not solve the problem permanently, and hence the State government has to mount pressure on the Centre to introduce the bill in the Parliament; otherwise some one will go to Supreme Court intentionally as was done in Karnataka State.

Mr Krishnaiah also said that the PCC Chief has assured him that he would bring pressure on the Centre from the Party side.
