PCC Urges CEO to check Jagan’s henchmen

Hyderabad: The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on Saturday urged the Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Banwarlal to take steps to check the attacks of henchmen of Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on its leaders and election campaigners in Kadapa district.

The delegation of PCC comprised of the party Vice President, Mr M Gangadhar, the general secretary, Mr Rudraraju Padma Raju and the Legal Cell Convener, Mr B srinivas Goud submitted a memorandum to the CEO in the Secretariat here.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, Mr Gangadhar said that the independent candidate of Kadapa Parliament Constituency, Mr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was encouraging his henchmen to attack leaders and campaigners of the Congress party to create terror in the jurisdiction of Pulivendula Assembly segment and Kadapa Parliament Constituency, which were going for by-polls.

The MLA, Mr Chiranjeevi, who was campaigning on Friday in the constituency was attacked with eggs, chappals and so on. This was indicative of the terror to be created by the hooligans of the independent candidate, he alleged. He also pointed out that the Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, was also going to campaign in the district from May 3 for the victory of the Congress candidates.

“In the democracy, everyone has the right to express their views in a free manner. The attitude and behavior of Mr Jagn will attract the violation of election code”, he said.

He also requested the CEO to take prompt necessary action against Mr Jagan for violating the election code and also adopting the corrupt practices. The ECO should direct the district administration to check the fraudulent activities of Mr Jagan to ensure free and fair poll. (NSS)
