Hyderabad: TDP senior leader Yanamala Rama Krishnudu has alleged that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was not interested in rooting out corruption biting at the society.

In a statement here on Saturday, he said it was unfortunate that the government has asked the Supreme Court to withdraw its directive appointing a Special Investigation Team (SIT) while the President was stating that an international fight was necessary for getting back the black money stashed away in foreign countries.

He said it was unfortunate that the government had not acted so far, though the Supreme Court had directed it to divulge the names of those who kept their black money in foreign banks. He said if the Rs. 40 lakh crores stashed away by Indians was brought back, the entire debt burden of the country would be cleared. He said the Supreme Court had to intervene in the administrative matters only because of the non-functioning of the Central and State governments.

Mr Rama Krishnudu has said that the black money has not only endangered the economy, but also was helping in promoting terrorism and crime. He said people were of the firm view that CBI inquiry into 2G Spectrum, Hasan Ali affair, black money episodes, Raja and Kanimozhi affairs and now Jagan’s wealth were all being done only because of the intervention of the judiciary.

Mr Rama Krishnudu said the tricks being played by the UPA government even at the stage of drafting of the Lok Pal Bill had hurt the sentiments of the people. He said apart from committing crimes, being a silent spectator was also an offence. He said the goings-on prove that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had no sincerity in erasing corruption from the administration. He said never in the history of the country ministers and MPs had gone to jail in corruption cases. He said people were lamenting that they had never seen such an inefficient and corrupt government in the country’s history.
