Police registers case against Srikrishna Committee

Hyderabad: The Punjagutta police on Wednesday filed a case against the five-member Justice B N Srikrishna Committee that was appointed by the Union government to go into the Telangana tangle, as directed by the Nampalli court.

According to information, the Punjagutta police, acting on the directions of the court, registered cases under sections 418, 153(A), 504 and 505 IPC.

Recently, lawyers of the Telangana region filed a petition in the Nampally Court alleging that the Committee had prepared a report dishonoring the feelings of Telangana people and appealed to the Court to make the police to file cases against the Srikrishna Committee members. They also explained to the Court that the eighth chapter of the Committee report was against the truth. Allowing the petition, the Nampally Court directed the Punjagutta Police to file cases against the Committee members. The police have registered various cases against the Committee members after taking special legal opinion. (NSS)
