Hyderabad: Dubbing the attacks on Congress leaders when they visited body of Prof. Jayashankar to pay last respects as unfortunate, the AICC secretary and MLC, Mr Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, has said that even Prof. Jayashankar would have condemned the attacks if he was alive. He said that he had appealed to the Chief Minister to construct a memorial in the name of Prof. Jayashankar at Warangal.

Speaking to the media at the CLP office here on Wednesday, Mr Ponguleti said that the attacks were not good in a democratic country at the time of last rites of a popular leader. The attackers have not even left the ministers, MPs, MLAs and other leaders of the Congress, he lamented.

Urging the Chief Minister to order a thorough inquiry into the Satya Sai Trust affairs, he said that the State and Union governments have to initiate steps to run the Satya Sai Trust like the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.

Welcoming the statement of the Union Minister, Mr Jairam Ramesh, for deciding to visit the illegal mining sites and land allotment to the SEZs in the State by this month end, Mr Ponguleti said that it will be good for the State.
