New Delhi: In protest against the inclusion of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s name in the FIR issued by of Central Bureau of Investigation in the disproportionate assets case of Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy, the Congress MP from Nellore and staunch supporter of Jagan, Mekapati Rajagopal on Wednesday submitted his resignation from Lok Sabha. He submitted his resignation to Speaker Meira Kumar.
Addressing reporters, Rajagopal stated that he submitted his resignation in the prescribed format and asked the Speaker to accept his resignation early.
Despite high court giving clear directions to the CBI not to include former chief minister YSR’s name in the FIR, the probing agency violated its directions and included his name causing heartburn to people of the state, he said. Alleging that the Telugu Desam and Congress Party colluded to tarnish the image of YSR, he described CBI probe against Jagan as political vendetta for leaving the Congress.
He said that the people of the state would teach a befitting lesson to both Congress and TDP in the by-elections for conspiring to tarnish image of YSR, who brought Congress to power for two consecutive terms.
Another MP from Anakapalle Sabbam Hari stated that he would submit his resignation by the end of monsoon session of Lok Sabha. (INN)
