Hyderabad: The PRP MLC-elect Mr. C Ramachnadraiah and the MIM MLC-elect Mr. Syed Althaf Hyder Rizvi have taken oath as Members of the Legislative Council here on Friday.
The Protem Chairman of the Legislative Council, Mr. S Basava Punnaiah has administered the oath to the members in his chamber in the premises of the Legislative Council.
Mr. Ramachandraiah has taken oath in the name of God.
Former Chairman of the Legislative Council, Dr A Chakraphani and former Deputy Chairman, Mr. Mohamed Jhani, former PCC President, Mr. P Narsa Reddy, PRP MLA, Mr. Eeli Nani, former Minister and PRP leader, Mr. Kothapalli Subba Rayudu and others attended oath taking ceremony.
Speaking to the media after taking oath, Mr. Rama Chaiandaraiah has thanked the PRP Chief, Mr. Chiranjeevi for providing the opportunity to him. Reminding that he had experience of 10 years as MLA and MP, he hoped that the experience would help him in solving the people’s problems in his new capacity as the MLC.
Replying questions, he said though the merger of PRP in the Congress was announced, the official process of the merger was not yet completed by the Election Commission of India, he said. The PRP would officially merge in the Congress in the first week of April with the issuance of merger notice to the Congress by the ECI, he added.
Mr. Ramachandraiah has also informed that Mr. Chiranjeevi would participate in the campaign for the bye elections in Kadapa district and work for the victory of Congress candidates. He has claimed that the chances of the Congress candidates in the bye elections had improved as the Congress had become stronger in the district with the merger of PRP. (NSS)
