PRP Merger Meet Next Month Only

Hyderabad, Feb.9 (NSS): Thanking the PRP chief Mr K Chiranjeevi on behalf of the PCC for personally calling on him at his residence, the PCC Chief Mr D Srinivas said that they ( DS and Chiru) will strengthen the Congress party and AICC Chief Ms Sonia Gandhi’s leadership. Mr Chiranjeevi said that he will organize a merger meeting after the completion of formalities somewhere in March.

Speaking to the media after an hour long meeting with Mr Chiranjeevi on Wednesday at his residence, Mr Srinivas urged both the Congress and PRP supporters to welcome the merger. Expressing happiness over the announcement of leaders of the two parties that they will work together, the PCC Chief said that Mr Chiranjeevi was an important leader in Congress party today though he was president of PRP yesterday.

Mr Chiranjeevi said that Mr Srinivas extended his best wishes and blessings today, though both of them have long term relationship. He said that he remembered Mr Srinivas as a long known friend when the merger issue came up for discussion. The PCC Chief too said that he was very happy over the merger; Mr Chiranjeevi said, and added that they would move forward to fulfill the aims of Ms Sonia Gandhi.

He informed that the constitutional process on merger will take at least one month and after that there will be a public meeting on merger. He said that there were no problems from both sides as all are ready to work together.

When asked on corruption allegations during late Dr YSR’s rule, Mr Chiranjeevi said that nobody will sit silent on corruption, under whose rule it may be. He opined that one can’t sit without cleaning the dust in the house. Intervening, Mr Srinivas said that Mr Chiranjeevi has been asking to rectify the system and it was common in the system that some irregularities can take place. Mr Chiranjeevi made it clear that he was particular about the corruption that took place during the late Dr YSR. Once again intervening, Mr Srinivas said that Mr Chiranjeevi was asking to rectify the irregularities that took place during the late Dr YSR’s rule, and he was not leveling any corrupt allegations targeting Dr YSR.

Mr Chiranjeevi said that Ms Sonia Gandhi was moving forward to clean the corrupt system in the Country. (NSS)
