Hyderabad: Handlooms and Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao on Thursday disclosed that he had sought urgent rectification from the Centre on the injustice meted out to the Telangana region in the selections of candidates for prominent posts by accommodating BC leaders from the region in the next reshuffle of the state Cabinet.
Giving details of a letter he had written to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Dr Shankar Rao said that he had highlighted the injustice meted out to Telangana leaders in the allotment of key posts.
Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, the Textiles Minister said that he raised the issue in his letter as it hurts the sentiments of Telangana leaders.
He revealed that he had appealed to the High Command to rectify the major mistake by accommodating BC leaders from Telangana during revamping of Cabinet. “Lot of injustice has been suffered by Telangana leaders in the allotment of posts,” he pointed out.
Violating the tradition, posts of the Chief Minister, the PCC president and the Speaker were given to Seemandhra leaders, neglecting Telangana people, the Minister pointed out.
Dr Shankar Rao further stated that the intellectuals from Telangana are planning to write letters over the injustice to the Congress High Command, the Governor and the President of India.
Reacting on the allegations leveled by Congress leaders KR Amos and Yadav Reddy that High Command received bribes during the tenure of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Dr Shankar Rao condemned these statements as `baseless’ and `far from truth.’
“There is no need for High Command to take bribes from Congress leaders,” he said.(INN)
