Hyderabad: “The matter of delivering benefits to eligible applicants for ration cards, pensions and housing received during Racchabanda programme will be finalized at a meeting to be held at Chief Minister’s level on August 9”, said the Minister for Housing, Mr Kanna Laxminarayana, here today.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting on the applications received during Racchabanda was held in the Secretariat on Monday. The Ministers – Mr Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Mr N. Raghuveera Reddy, Mr dharmana Prasada Rao, Mr Dokka Manikhya Varaprasada Rao and Mr Botcha Satyanarayana —- attended the meeting. The Cabinet sub-committee members and the ministers from Telangana region, Mr K Jana Reddy, Mr P Sudarshan Reddy, Ms Sunitha Laxma Reddy and Mr D. Sridhar Babu, abstained from the meeting.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Mr Kanna Laxminarayana reminded that the Chief Minister has set up a cabinet sub-committee with 10 ministers to look into the applications received during the Racchabanda programme. Verification of 95 per cent of applications received from the people during Racchabanda held between January 24 and February 12 was completed. Out of 29.99 lakh applications for ration cards, 1.443 lakh applications found eligible and out of 12.88 lakh applications received for pensions, about 5.57 applications were found eligible in the verification. Similarly, 24.75 lakh applications were received for housing and 14.43 applications were found eligible among them, he added.
“Various departments have already informed the government about the financial burden on the State exchequer due to issuance of new ration cards, pensions and houses to the eligible applicants. A meeting at the Chief Minister level will discuss the financial implications and programme implementation and finalize the matter”, the Minister added.
On the absence of four ministers to the cabinet sub-committee meeting, he maintained that they also conveyed their views on the subjects though they have not attended the meeting due to various reasons.
