Hyderabad: Officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday caught red-handed a Railway Administrative Assistant while receiving Rs 2000 from an unemployed person after he promised him a job in the Railways.
According to reports coming in, the Rs 2,000 was part of a much bigger sum which Railway Administrative Assistant Devadas Menon had demanded from the unemployed youth to ensure a job ‘through the backdoor’ in the railways.
Reports suggest that Menon had earlier fleeced as much as Rs 1.2 lakh from the youth on the promise that he would manage to ensure his employment in the railways.
The CBI sleuths were alerted about the case after being tipped-off and laid a trap to nab the accused official red-handed.
CBI officials said that Devdas Menon would be produced before the CBI Anti-Corruption Court even as investigations continue whether his role is part of a larger scam.(INN)
