Hyderabad: As the noted Social activist Anna Hazare’s fast in Delhi entered the third day today, demanding the Centre to bring in a stronger Lok Pal Bill, almost all sections of people rallied round in his support in the State capital and other parts of the State.
A number of Civil society organisations today organised rallies, marches and relay hunger strikes, extending full support to the cause and solidarity with the fasting leader. Students, professionals, film stars, senior citizens participated in the rallies organised at the Necklace road in the city. They carried national flags and placards extending their support to Anna Hazare.
They raised slogans like ‘Gali gali mein shor hai, mera neta chor hai’ and ‘Corruption down down!’
The Youth for Better India has started relay hunger strike at Indira Park, in which Telugu film Director Shekhar Kammula and other prominent persons participated. Shekhar Kammula demanded stringent laws to put the corrupt persons behind bars, as was being done in some other countries. He felt this was the only way to root out the menace of corruption from the country. He criticised those in power who were opposing deterrent anti-corruption Legislation who were scared of punishment for their illegal activities. He lauded Anna Hazare for focusing on the menace and starting the movement.
Meanwhile, Reports said that demonstrations, rallies and other programmes were undertaken at many places in the State like Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Tirupathim Guntur, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, etc., in support of Anna Hazare. (NSS)
