Hyderabad: The Handlooms and Textiles Minister, Dr P. Shankar Rao, has alleged that Reddy candidates in the Cabinet will be pruned in the next reshuffling. This would take place at an appropriate time, he said, adding that the ‘corrupt’ ministers will also go.

Alleging that the YSR Congress Party has deceived the SC, ST, BC and Minority leaders in the allocation of positions in the Party Central Governing Council (CGC), Dr Rao said that 20 Reddys were inducted in the CGC including Ms Vijayamma as honorary president and Mr Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy as president.

Speaking to mediapersons at CLP office on Friday, Dr Shankar Rao said that no position has been given to Mr Gone Prakash Rao. He said that Mr Ambati Rambabu would have become an MLA or at least chairman of a corporation if he was loyal to the Congress high command instead of trusting late YSR. He pointed out that Dr YSR had denied MLA ticket to Mr Ambati Rambabu thrice.

Responding to a query, Dr Shankar Rao said that the induction of 14 Reddys in the 36-member State Cabinet was because of late YSR. He said that they would be sacked and the SC, ST, BC and Minority leaders would be accommodated by the AICC Chief, Ms Sonia Gandhi. He said that the Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, was working transparently. The Congress party alone renders justice to the SC, ST, BC and Minority sections.

Refusing to agree with the former chief minister, Mr Konijetti Rosaiah’s remarks that the ruling party was in a weak position, Dr Shankar Rao said that the party was in a good position in the State and the recent Kadapa bye-election results should not be taken as pulse of the people in the entire State.

Responding to another question, Dr Shankar Rao said that the TDP Chief, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu’s situation looks pathetic. He described the TDP senior leader, Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy, as a sincere protagonist of Telangana.

Urging the Defence Ministry and the CBI to initiate action against the culprits of Cantonment lands scandal in Secunderabad, he opposed appointment of Mr Bhanuka Narmada Mallikarjun as vice-chairman of the Board. He said that he has already written to the Defence Minister, Mr A K Antony, regarding this issue. (NSS)
