Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi Floor Leader in the Assembly Etela Rajender on Sunday alleged that the state government and police department are resorting to repressive measures and illegal arrests to foil the mass hunger fast of Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee to start from Monday at Arts College.
Talking to media persons at Telangana Bhavan, Etela Rajender said that the students of Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee are launching the hunger fast ‘peacefully and democratically’ to press for the deletion of Clause 14 F from the Presidential Orders of 1975 and the introduction of the Telangana Bill in Parliament.
“However, the government is making efforts to foil the hunger fast and is resorting to illegal arrests. A heavy contingent of police forces has been deployed outside the campus they are not allowing the students inside the campus,” Mr Rajender said.
He warned Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of serious consequences if the students who have been arrested illegally are not released and the forces withdrawn from outside the campus.(INN)
