Hyderabad, Feb.8 (NSS): Rotary Club of Hyderabad East and Rotary International Dist-3150 (comprising 93 Rotary clubs in the twin cities, Telangana and Guntur, Prakasam districts) will donate 2,950 School Desks worth Rs 60 lakhs to 83 government schools in the twin cities and Ranga Reddy districts.

Addressing the media today, Rtn K Bhaskar Reddy, Project Director, School Benches Project from Rotary Club of Hyderabad East said that the club was one of the active clubs of Rotary International Dist 3150 and has several credentials including construction of the two-storey 20-classroom building for Govt High school of Rotary Club of Hyd East at Jawahar Nagar, Hyderabad which was inaugurated on March 30 last year. The Club has again taken the initiative of processing a School benches project under “Right To Learn – Literacy programme of Rotary International” which resulted into this mega project.

Rtn Rajya Lakshmi Vadlamani, Dist Governor, RI Dist 3150 said the Rotary International has been carrying out several community developmental projects and one of them was Right To Learn – Literacy promotion programme in underdeveloped and developing countries. She has congratulated Hyderabad East Club for taking up the initiative and executed the project. She also explained that some 6,000 school children will be present and 2,950 benches will also be made available at the venue.

Rtn Ravi Vadlamani, Past Dist Governor, RI dist 3150 has said that this project has come true through Matching Grants programme where in two Districts in Rotary International participate and donate $37 per each school bench and congratulated Rotary Clubs in RI Dist 3150 and RI dist 1400, Finland for this Mega project. He also said that the Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, has contented to be the chief guest and Ms D Purandheswari, Union Minister of State for HRD, Mr N Manohar, Deputy Speaker, Mr Pardha Saradhy, Minister for Secondary Education, and several others would be guests of honour.

Rtn K Bhaskar Reddy gave the statistical details as under: No of School Benches – 2950; Cost of the Project -Rs 60 lakhs; Participating Rotary Clubs – 25 clubs from Twin cities, RI dist 3150 and 43 Rotary Clubs in R I Dist 1400, Finland, No of beneficiary schools – 83 and number of beneficiary children – 6000.

Rtn Bhaskar Reddy also thanked ITC and Tata Tele services Ltd and several Rotarians and Rotarty Clubs for supporting the event with their sponsorships to execute this distribution of benches in a grand manner. (NSS)
