Hyderabad: The Republican Party of India State president, Mr Bojja Tharakam has demanded the police to arrest the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) party MLA, Mr T. Hareesh Rao, who has assaulted A.P Bhavan OSD Mr Chandar Rao on July 21, and not to withdraw the case under SC, ST Atrocities Act.

Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Mr Tharakam said that the incident has exposed Mr Harish Rao’s upper caste mentality against the Dalits. He asked the TRS leaders as to why they did not attack the A.P. Bhavan Resident Commissioner, Mr Rajat Bargava, who belongs to upper caste.

He felt that the Dalit people might face attacks by upper caste people in Separate Telangana State, in spite of TRS Party’s claim that a Dalit candidate would become Chief Minister if separate state was achieved. He criticized that the TRS president Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao not responding so far on the incident. He said that TRS party would be considered anti-dalit party if Mr Chandrasekhar Rao did not break his silence in this regard.

He threatened that if the police failed to arrest Mr Hareesh Rao within two weeks, they would launch agitation across the country.

The party vice presidents, Dr C. Sundararao, Mr Bayya Ramachandrarao, general secretaries Mr Ganumala Gyaneswar, Mr Bakki Suresh Kumar and organizing secretary Mr B. Kancharla Shesu were also present.
