RTC staff compassionate appointments go shortly

Hyderabad: The GO on compassionate appointments of the kin of RTC employees who died in service, would be released in two or three days, the Minister for Transport, Mr Bosta Satyanarayana informed.

Launching six new services of APSRTC at a programme at MGBS here, Mr Satyanarayana said that the government-run APSRTC was working to make profits, but also with the motto of service. He opined that the RTC was fulfilling its social obligation by providing bus facilities in rural areas whatever may be revenue. Though there was burden of subsidies and hike in prices of fuels, the RTC has not increased its fare, he added.

Referring to the demand of RTC employees for compassionate appointments, he assured that the Government would issue an GO in two or three days in this regard.

He also revealed that all the 3,000 old buses in RTC would be replaced with new ones within three years. In Hyderabad City, 200 to 300 new buses would come on to the roads at the earliest, he added. Reminding that 100 AC buses were plying in Hyderabad, he said that there was good demand for them and they were planning for additional AC buses to meet the demand.

The RTC Managing Director, Mr Prasad Rao announced that RTC is going to open a call centre soon to receive complaints from the commuters.

The new marketing schemes of RTC were Vanitha Family Card, Mee Nestam, City Sheetal bus pass, APSRTC airport bus pass, provision of free travel facility to the ex-MLAs and Barat. Vanitha Family Card will be issued for all the members mentioned in white ration cards by charging Rs 100, and it would facilitate them to travel in RTC buses with 10 percent concession on fare. Mee Nestam plan was for HIV patients. They can travel in RTC buses with 50 percent discount on actual fare. This will benefit 85,000 AIDS patients and 85,000 attendees, who will accompany them in their travel. The another scheme “City Sheetal Bus Pass” was to travel in AC buses by purchasing the pass for Rs 1,600 per month.

The APSRTC airport bus pass has been designed exclusively for utilization of Rajiv Gandhi Airport goers. This pass costs Rs 850 per month. The another new scheme free travel facility to the ex-MLAs. The sixth scheme is bus advance reservation anywhere to anywhere travel. (NSS)
