Rural Employment Field Assistants To Go On Indefinite Strike

Hyderabad: Having failed in their repeated efforts to draw the attention of the Government towards their problems, the Andhra Pradesh Rural Employment Field Assistants Association has decided to go on stsate-wide indefinite strike from April 11, 2011.

Announcing this at a media meet at the NSS media point here today, Association General Secretary Mr K Umamaheswara Rao and CITU state Secretary Mr Bhoopal, regretted that the Government has failed to provide minimum wages, job security, Provident Fund, medical insurance, leave and other facilities to the 23,000 field assistants who were agitating since the past three months.

They said that the Field Assistants were paid a meager sum of Rs.2200 per month, while paying Rs.12,000 to Rs.20,000 a month for Technical Assistants, Computer Operators, APO and others, though the Field Assistants were entrusted with lot of work like getting works done by 20 tp 30 groups, measurements, sending reports, etc.

Mr Umamaheswara Rao said they have been demanding a monthly salary of Rs.8,400 as per G o No,3, besides facilities like leave, HR policy.

He called upon the field assistants throughout the State to participate in the strike and also organise demonstrations at Collector offices on April 11 and 12. (NSS)
