Hyderabad: A delegation of State Rythu Sangham leaders on Saturday called on the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, in the Camp Office at Begumpet here and apprised him of the pathetic condition of the farmers in the State.
Speaking to mediapersons later, the State Rythu Sangham general secretary, Mr M. Chander Rao, said they have pleaded with the Chief Minister to take immediate steps to procure cotton from the farmers either through the Cotton Corporation of India or Markfed of Andhra Pradesh. Mr Chander Rao said they have complained to the Chief Minister that the farmers in the Telangana region were facing severe hardship as they were not able to sell their cotton crop due to the closure of agricultural markets by the officials since the past two months.
The Sangham leaders said that the Chief Minister heard them patiently and assured them of all possible assistance. The Sangham leaders also warned that they would launch an agitation if the State government failed to rise to the occasion and help them.
