Hyderabad, February 4: Contrary to the remarks of the Transport Minister, Mr Botcha Satyanarayana, the Home Minister, Ms Sabita Indra Reddy, has confirmed that B. Tech. student Varalakshmi has committed suicide.
Ms Sabita visited the house of Varalakshmi in Kushaiguda and consoled her family members. Family members of the girl, who committed suicide as she was unable to bear the harassment by college management because the government had failed to reimburse her fee, have expressed their anger on the minister. They told the minister with tears that it was wrong to state that Varalakshmi died accidentally due to gas leak. They told her that the girl poured kerosene on her and immolated herself.
Talking to mediapersons later, the Home Minister said that looking at the situation in the girl’s house, it looked like she had committed suicide. She said she would have the incident investigated into.
It may be recalled that the Transport Minister, Mr Botcha Satyanarayana, has denied that Varalakshmi had committed suicide. He said she died due to gas leak accidentally. (NSS)
