Hyderabad: Alleging that the director of State Sainik Welfare, Brig. C S Vidyasagar, has done gross injustice to the ex-servicemen and their widows in the State by misappropriating all the benefits being given by the government, the ex-servicemen and widows, under the aegis of the State Ex-servicemen Welfare Association, demonstrated in front of the State Directorate of Sainik Welfare, here on Friday.
Speaking to the media, the association founder-president, Mr A. Rangaiah Goud, said that even as the Centre and State governments have been earmarking huge amounts for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their widows in the State, Brig. C S Vidyasagar has been usurping all of them. He also said that though huge donations were pouring in on every National Flag Day on December 7, for the welfare of ex-servicemen and their widows, the money never reached the eligible beneficiaries.
Alleging that Brig. C S Vidyasagar was indulging in unscrupulous acts, Mr Rangaiah Goud said that when his tenure was about to be ended in 2009, he sent the widows of ex-servicemen to the Raj Bhavan for the pleasure of then Governor and got it extended.
The general secretary of the People’s Union for Civil Liberties, Ms Jaya Vindhyala, has alleged that Brig. C S Vidyasagar has amassed huge wealth to the tune of Rs 125 crores through illegal means. She demanded that the government order a CBI probe into his ill-gotten wealth and seize all his benami properties in East Godavari, West Godavari and Tadepalligudem. She also demanded that he should be arrested and prosecuted.
The Progressive Organisation for Women chairperson, Ms V. Sandhya, was also present. (NSS)
