New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday upheld the extension of the services of Dollar Seshadri as Special officer of the famous Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD), and said the appointment was quite proper.
With this order of the apex court, Dollar Seshadri has got relief. The Supreme Court has found fault with the verdict of the Andhra Pradesh High Court which annulled the extension granted to Dollar Seshadri after his attaining superannuation in 2006.
The apex Court held that it was not correct to allow and encourage public interest litigation (PIL) in matters relating to the service of employees, and suggested to the courts not to allow PIL in service matters.
Dollar Seshadri has been getting extension of service, as Special Officer of TTD, since his retirement in 2006. One Mr Gopal Reddy has filed a petition in the State High Court questioning the propriety and validity of the extension being granted to Dollar Seshadri, following which the High Court has granted interim stay of his appointment. The Supreme court today supported the appointment of Dollar Seshadri and found fault with the High Court judgment, thus providing relief to Dollar Seshadri. (NSS
