Hyderabad: The senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member, Mr V Hanumantha Rao, has demanded that the lands allotted to the Karnataka minister, Mr Gali Janardhana Reddy, to establish Brahmani Steels in Kadapa be taken back.
Talking to the media at the luncheon he gave to party leaders, Mr Rao expressed anger at a section of Congress MLAs violating the party whip in the MLC elections. He has demanded stringent action against them.
Harping on Mr Y S Jagan’s properties, Mr Hanumantha Rao said that the people of the State would question the former as to how he had amassed so much property at an appropriate time. He explained that the people would question the YSR Congress leader at the time of next elections. He also felt that the Congress party would lose nothing due to the Odarpu Yatra of Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Stating that the lands of small and marginal farmers on a large scale were taken over in the name of setting up Special Economic Zones during the tenure of late chief minister, Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Mr Hanumantha Rao urged the government to take back all such lands and give them back to the poor farmers. He also said that he would extend support to the Chief Minister, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy’s statement that he would review the lands allotted to the SEZs. He also demanded that the government initiate action against those committed irregularities in the allotment of lands to the SEZs
The senior Congress leader strongly felt that deterrent action against those who resorted to cross-voting in the MLC elections would bring about discipline in the party. (NSS)
