Hyderabad: Alleging that a section of the media has published false news reports about him, the Handlooms and Textiles Minister Dr P Shankar Rao has said he never said that the Congress president Ms. Sonia Gandhi had directed him to file cases against Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, He has also denied that he has slapped an employee. The minister said he would file a criminal cases against the media that misrepresented facts.
Speaking to the media at the CLP office here on Monday, Dr Shankar Rao said it was his final press-meet and added that that he would only send press notes henceforth when there was any thing to communicate. Declining to answer questions on when he would again resume meeting the media, the minister said some media was misquoting him.
Making it clear that Mr. Venkatesh was his attendant and not a personal assistant as said in the media, Dr Shankar Rao claimed he didn’t slap him. He has charged the visual media of telecasting visuals that were manipulated.
He said that he was conducting his last press-meet with pain in the heart and added that he had not filed cases against Mr, Jagan at the behest of the AICC Chief Ms Sonia Gandhi as published in a section of the media. He said that he just mentioned Ms Sonia Gandhi’s speech as delivered in AICC plenary and never said that Ms Sonia Gandhi directed him to file cases against Mr Jagan. He said, “I am not that sort of person to file cases and I am never afraid of anybody”. (NSS)
