Hyderabad: “I will seek the Chief Minister, Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy to relieve me from the cabinet post unless the funds of weavers loan waiver amount was released and due of various departments to weavers societies were not cleared at the earliest”, the Minister for Textiles, Dr P Shanker Rao informed.
The decision of the Minister was appearing like a result of his dissident on his cabinet portfolio and party high commands reported reprimand for his recent controversial remarks and behavior.
Speaking to the media persons after meeting of floor leaders of both the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council on weavers’ issues, the Minister said that Rs 109 crores have been already released to District Treasury Offices (DTOs) for weavers’ loan waiver scheme, which yet to be transferred to the respective accounts. It was estimated that the amount of weavers’ loans waiver would be Rs 312Crores, but it seems to less than the estimation.
Reminding that Rs 200 crores have been allocated in this year’s budget for the purpose of weavers’ loan waiver, he said that he would request the Chief Minister to spend the total amount for weavers’ community, if funds remained after clearing of weaver’s loans. He also expressed strong displeasure over the non-release of funds to weavers and laxity of the officials of textile department. Moreover, the pending amounts of various departments related to purchase handloom cloths should be cleared immediately, he added.
“I am desired of reliving from minister post, if the funds were not released to the department. I will meet the Chief Minister and convene the same.”, he revealed.
The Minister informed that differences of opinions have erupted between the opposition parties at floor leaders meeting on weavers’ issues. The leaders of the other parties contended with the opinion of Teachers’ MLC, Mr Mohan Reddy that the time for cloth supply to the students may be taken up to July even though it was quite late to the commencement of academic year.
