TRS has given an ultimatum to the YSR Congress leader Sharmila that she should step on the Telangana soil only after making her stand on the statehood issue clear.
Talking to the media here on Thursday, TRS leaders Jitender Reddy and Niranjan Reddy alleged that late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had no love for people of Telangana. He said all that YSR loved was Telangana lands and the votes of the people. They reminded that during the last elections YSR had campaigned that if the Maha Kootami, alliance of the TRS, TDP and Communists won, they would seal the Pothireddypadu project and stop water to the Rayalaseema region.
The two leaders have demanded that Y S Vijayamma explain what YSR meant by these words. They said Vijayamma should also tell the people why Jagan went to jail. They said people of Telangana only want Telangana rule and not the Seemandhra rule. They have questioned whether it was not true that Jagan had displayed Samaikyandhra placard in the Lok Sabha and obstructed Telangana.
The TRS leaders also alleged that late YSR had not given even 10 percent of the funds given toYogiVemanaUniversityto the Telangana universities. They have also alleged that YSR had illegally diverted water from the Pothireddypadu reservoir to the Rayalaseema region. Stating that no one else had plundered Telangana like YSR, they said the people of the region would never forget his betrayal.
The TRS leaders explained that YSR had always betrayed Telangana. They have demanded that Sharmila should explain what her party would be doing to the people of the region. They said that Jagan was only continuing the YSR legacy of love for Telangana lands and votes. Admitting that it was the Union government led by Congress that betrayed the people of Telangana, they said still Sharmila owed an explanation to the people of the region about her party’s stand on the statehood issue.
Meanwhile,PalamuruUniversitystudents have said they would not allow Sharmila to move about in Telangana. They have burnt her effigy and demanded that she state her stand on the statehood issue. They also warned that she would have to face serious consequences if she did not specify the party’s stand. As the students staged a dharna, vehicular traffic came to a standstill for two km. (NSS)
