Sikhs to celebrate sixth Guru’s birth anniversary on Sunday

Hyderabad: The Sikh community of Hyderabad will celebrate 416th the ‘Prakash Purab’ or the birthday celebrations of sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind Saheb on a grand scale on July 10.

In this connection, Prabhandak Committee, Gurudwara Saheb, Hargobindpuri of Amberpet will organise a `Vishaal Deewan’ (mass congregation) at Maharana Pratap Function Hall, Amberpet from 11 AM to 3.30 PM on Sunday.

Gurudwara Saheb Hargobindpuri Prabhandak Committee president S Bhag Singh and other committee members said that large numbers Sikh devotees are expected to attend the Vishaal Deewan, besides members of other communities.

The event will be marked by recitations of Gurubani Keertans (holy hymns) by reputed Ragi Jathas (community preachers) who are specially being invited from various parts of the country to render Shabad Keertans and throw light on the teachings of Sikh gurus.

Dadhi Jatha Giani Gurdev Singhji Hira of Kurukshetra Bhai Gurmail Singhji of Tumbiwale, students of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Hazuri Ragi Bhai Gunwant Singhji and other Ragi Jathas will recite Gurbani keertans.

After the culmination of the congregation Guru-ka-Langar (free community kitchen) will be served to the devotees.(INN)
