New Delhi: A delegation of elected representatives on Wednesday faced a major disappointed after failing to get a concrete assurance from Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on their demand of separate Telangana state during a 25 minute meeting.
The Union Home Minister told the 55-member delegation, comprising of MPs, MLAs and Ministers that any decision made by Congress president Sonia Gandhi would be the final decision on Telangana.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of meeting with a delegation of Telangana Congress elected representatives, the Union Minister stated that he would take the Telangana issue to Congress president Sonia Gandhi after eliciting the opinion of the participants in an all-party conclave.
“The Congress High Command will take a decision Telangana after eliciting views in the second all-party conclave,” he stated.
The Union Home Minister further said that he would make efforts for convening an all-party meeting on Telangana soon.
He advised the delegation members to highlight the demand for a separate Telangana state before Congress Core Committee member Pranab Mukherjee.
Mr Chidambaram added that he had made announcements on Telangana on behalf of the government and High Command.
“I have not taken any decision individually on Telangana. I have no power to take any decision on the separate statehood issue.
The Telangana issue is not in my hands,” he stated.
According to reported sources, the delegation members wants to take a drastic decision on future course of action plan after meeting the Pranab Mukherjee at 8 PM later in the day.
The delegation planning to submit mass resignations on Telangana after the conclusion of meeting with the Pranab Mukherjee, the sources stated.(INN)
