Hyderabad: Stating that the AICC Chief, Ms Sonia Gandhi, should come here and give an assurance of carving out separate Telangana State in writing, the resigned Telangana Congress public representatives have rejected the AICC general secretary, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad’s invitation for discussions in Delhi. They also demanded him either to withdraw his remarks on Telangana issue made in China or condemn the news reports appeared in a section of print media.
The resigned Telangana Congress legislators convened a meeting with local body representatives of the Telangana region here on Monday.
Addressing the meeting, the Bhongir MP, Mr Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, has made it clear that they would not go to Delhi in response to the invitation of Mr Azad. He said the high command, especially Ms Sonia Gandhi should come to Hyderabad and give a written assurance on separate Telangana State.
The official spokesperson of the resigned Telangana Congress public representatives Coordination Committee and Nalgonda MP, Mr Gutha Sukhender Reddy, said they would go to Delhi after discussing the issue in the Coordination Committee meeting that too after Mr Azad withdrew his remarks made in China or condemn the news reports to that effect.
Responding to a query, Mr Gutha said they would discuss the matter in the Coordination Committee meeting whether to go to Delhi or not. They may consider positively if some one other than Mr Azad invited them to Delhi.
Mr Gutha refused to answer when asked whether Mr Azad made anti-Telangana remarks in China under the influence of Seemandhra leaders. He said he would not answer on that question. He also hoped that the party high command would not succumb to the influence of the Seemandhra leaders. He said that not going Delhi does not amount to defying the high command. He said that Mr Azad’s remarks caused pain to Telangana people a lot and decided not to go to Delhi in response to the invitation of Mr Azad.
