Hyderabad: Accusing the Congress of ‘misleading’ the House, Telugu Desam Party Deputy Floor Leader in the state Assemlby Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that the elections of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker were against the established procedures.
Taking a serious note on the way the elections were held, Mr Gajapathi Raju told media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan that all established norms were violated during the elections of the Speaker and his deputy on Saturday.
The TDP senior leader alleged that the yesterday’s developments in the House indicate that the ruling party had misled the House.
Condemning the ruling party Members for ‘forcing’ Pro-tem Speaker JC Diwakar Reddy to change mode of election of Speaker at the last minute, Mr Gajapathi Raju said that this had given room for suspicion.
He also criticized newly elected Speaker Nadendla Manohar for adjourning the House indefinitely without taking any decision on the notice issued for introduction of No Confidence Motion by the Telugu Desam Party.
Mr Gajapathi Raju described Speaker’s decision to adjourn the House indefinitely as `black spot’ in the history of Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly.
He further alleged that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy had ‘fixed the match’ on the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker posts.
TDP leaders Tummala Nageswararao and Revanth Reddy were also present in the press meeting.(INN)
