Hyderabad: The International Centre for Gandhian Studies and the Gandhi Global Family have hailed the anti-corruption crusader, Mr. Anna Hazare, who through his “Satyagraha” on true Gandhian lines, has compelled the Centre concede his demand to make the Jan Lokpal Bill a statutory reality.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, the director of ICGS, Prof. K Purushotham Reddy has said that the entire nation was stirred by the Diksha and had extended immense solidarity that further strengthened the noble cause. Saluting the selfless services of Mr. Anna Hazare, he said that the self-less man had descendants and owned property. He lauded that Hazre stood for the cause of “sustainable development” in rural areas as being advocated by the United Nations Organisation that entails say no to tobacco and liquor, making efforts at water harvesting and achieving self reliance in all aspects over the last 30 years.

Referring to the rampant corruption in the country, Prof. Reddy said though it used to be quite low during the first two decades after the independence and it had surged by leaps and bounds during the later decades. “The Jan Lokpal Act is a sacred and the most powerful arsenal for protection of the nation, its citizen and resources from corruption and injustice. It hopefully ensures the equitable and judicious progress of the nation and enhances the global respectability of the country”, he added.

The president of the State chapter, Gandhi Global Family, Mr. G Rajender Reddy said that Gandhian doctrines have been marching ahead on a winning note since the very beginning and the victory of Mr. Anna Hazare had once again proved it. He also said that seeking to spread the Gandhian doctrines, they held elections in all districts of the State and constituted a committee of three members in every district. He said each committee comprised of a chairman, secretary and a convener. Recently these 69 members have been provided with training on the Gandhian principles at the Gandhi College of education at Hayathnagar, here, he said and added that the training focused on how to solve our own problems and become self reliant.
