Hyderabad/Visakhapatnam: Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao on Wednesday stated that the Telangana Congress leaders would intensify their agitation for statehood if the Centre fails to make an clear announcement before July 31.
Talking to media persons at the 48-hour hunger fast at Indira Park, the senior politician said the elected representatives would work along with people and students to fulfill their aspirations.
He made it clear there was no question of taking back their resignations submitted for the cause of statehood.
“We have submitted our resignations to fulfill the aspirations of people and there is no question withdrawing them,” he said.
Meanwhile the Seemandhra Students Joint Action Committee members on Wednesday began a 48-hour ‘Satyagraham’ on the lines of Telangana Congress leaders, opposing the demand of division of state at the Andhra University.
The student leaders alleged that Telangana leaders are mounting pressure on the Centre by threatening it with their resignations. “They are also provoking the people of the state with their statements to resort to violence,” the student leaders said.
They hailed the Congress In-Charge of State Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad’s statement that unanimous resolution of state Assembly is necessary for division of state.(INN)
