The Telangana Telugu Desam Forum plans to float a new Joint Action Committee which will be an alternative platform to lead the movement for a separate Telangana state. The forum is trying to rope in leaders who have fallen out with the TRS president, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, into the new JAC. The Telangana TD Forum convenor and MLA, Mr E. Dayakar Rao met the Telangana Praja Front chief, Gaddar, the TUF leader, Mr Dileep Kumar and the MLC and educationist, Mr Chukka Ramaiah, and sought their cooperation to float a new JAC.
It is learnt that the TD has taken the initiative to launch the Telangana JAC to capitalise on the Centre’s reluctance to make a decision on statehood for Telangana which the party expects could lead to a split in some parties. Sources said Gaddar, who has been an on-and- off friend of Mr Chandrasekhar Rao, and Mr Dileep Kumar, who fell out with the TRS chief and quit the party to launch his own organisation, have promised support to the new JAC.
However, Mr Dayakar Rao failed to convince Mr Ramaiah for the new JAC. Mr Ramaiah told the TD MLA that the government was treating Telangana as a law and order issue and not as a social issue. At present, leaders from the Congress, TD, BJP and TRS are members of the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) led by Prof. M Kodandaram. But due to differences within the TJAC and allegations that the TRS was steering it, Congress and TD leaders quit the JAC and launched their own agitations for Telangana. Deccan Chronicle
