Hyderabad: The Transport Minister, Mr Botcha Satyanarayana, has said that the solution to the decades’ long contentious issue of Telangana lies in the hands of the Telugu Desam party president, Mr N Chnadrababu Naidu. He also said that the problem would be solved at the moment when Mr Chandrababu made an announcement that he would abide by the Centre’s decision in this regard.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Mr Botcha said that the Centre might take some time to arrive at an appropriate solution on the Telangana issue. Training his guns at the TDP, he said that the Telugu Desam was responsible for the Telangana issue becoming more complex one, as it tends to change its word more often in this connection. But the Congress party wants to respect the Telugu Desam party as the main Opposition party, since it got about 34 per cent of votes in the last Assembly elections.
Mr Botcha said that he did not have any knowledge of the proposal of the Seemandhra leader, Mr J C Diwakar Reddy, to boycott the ongoing Assembly Budget session in support of the United Andhra Pradesh. He further said that he did not receive any invitation in connection with the meeting of public representatives from the Seemandhra region to be held at the residence of MP, Mr Kavuri Sambasiva Rao on March 5.
Referring to the Kakarapalle incident in Srikakulam district, Mr Botcha said that it happened since the package announced was not given to the local people. He said that the State government would take action against the management of the East Coast Thermal Power project for not awarding the package to the affected people.
Stating that it was not proper to make the State government responsible for the wrong-doings committed by the private entities, he said that the government would not own responsibility for the incident. He also demanded that the power plant management should tender an unconditional apology to the people of Kakarapalle village. (NSS)
