Hyderabad: The TDP has demanded that the State government order probe into excesses of police personnel at Mittagudem village of Reddygudem mandal of Krishna district in connection with the removal of NTR statue.

In a letter to the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) on Thursday, the party leaders, Mr Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu, Mr B Gopala Krishna Reddy and Mr Y V B Rajendra Prasad, stated that the police have removed the statue of the TDP founder and their beloved leader NTR in that village. They stated that party workers have installed the statue in a private land under intimation to the police. However, with pressure from the MP of Vijayawada and Minister for Animal Husbanddry, policemen removed the statue on the midnight of July 12. They stated the police arrested TDP MLA, Mr Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, who went there to stop the removal of the statue.

Strongly protesting against the removal of the NTR statue which they stated was erected in a private land, they appealed to the officer to examine the matter and take action against police personnel concerned. They also demanded re-erection of the statue in its original place.
