Hyderabad: The TDP has demanded the State and Central governments to obstruct the opening of Babli Project. Party senior leader Mr. Yerrabelli Dayakara Rao has warned the State government that the TDP would take up protest programmes directly if it failed to respond on Babli issue within a week. He has called upon all the political parties to unite to fight against the Maharashtra government to stop inauguration of the Babli project.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, the TDP Telangana Forum convener Mr. Rao and MLA Mr. Gangula Kamalakar have said that the Maharashtra government was preparing to open the Babli project soon and Telangana region would become a desert if it was opened. Telangana people won’t get the water for their drinking and irrigation needs, once the Babli project was opened, they bemoaned.

Urging the State government to convene an all-party meeting before the Maharashtra government inaugurates the Babali project, Mr. Dayakar Rao said that the State has to bring the pressure on Centre and the Prime Minister has to stop the inauguration of the project by intervening in the issue.

Mr. Dayakar Rao has also demanded the Centre to announce the separate Telangana State with the capital of Hyderabad. He made it clear that the Telangana people would not accept regional boards and only want separate Telangana state. He also demanded the Centre to announce its decision on Telangana immediately.
