Hyderabad: A senior TDP legislator and former minister Mr. Devineni Umameshwar today demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged ill-gotten wealth and properties amassed by the TRS President Mr. K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Speaking to the media along with TDP Seemandhra legislartors, Mr. Umameshwar launched a scathing attack on the TRS President for his diatribes against the TDP and its leadership.

The TDP leader accused the TRS Chief of exploiting the sentiments of the people of Telangana and amassing crores of rupees and acquiring numerous properties in the name of agitation for a separate state.” A CBI inquiry should be ordered forthwith to expose his misdeeds in amassing wealth”, he demanded.

Reminding that it was the mercy of late NTR and the TDP which have bestowed him with a political career, the TDP leader lashed out at Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao for not talking about injustice to Telangana region while enjoying the ministerial positions in the past.

Striking a warning to the TRS chief to control his language and tenor, he said that Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao has no moral right to comment on Telugu Desam and its leaders. Targeting Telugu Desam instead of holding the Congress responsible for the present Telangana crisis only speaks of his dubious role, the TDP leader charged and reminded that even the Sri Krishna Committee has recommended Samaikyandhra as the first preference to resolve the Telangana tangle.(NSS)
