Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam members forced the adjournment of the State Assembly for the day on Tuesday by continuing their protest in the House demanding the appointment of a Joint Legislature Committee ( JLC) to probe into the alleged large scale land scam in the state.

The TDP members stormed into the podium holding placards and raised slogans demanding a JLC even as the Communist members protested over the issue of SC and ST welfare. They remained holding placards and allowed the Communist members to have their say in forcing the adjournment of the House.

When the House reassembled and the issue of SC and ST welfare again debated and after the Chief Minister’s intervention, the Deputy Speaker tried to proceed with the business as listed in the agenda.

Even as the concerned ministers moved the demands for grants of their respective departments, the TDP members protested and rushed to the podium demanding the JLC. Amidst noisy scenes the Deputy Speaker rushed through the agenda and advised the Minister for Major Industries Dr. Geetha Reddy to make a statement on the issue of land allotments.

While the Minister was trying to read the statement, the TDP members vociferously demanded the appointment of a JLC. Dr. Geetha Reddy quipped that the members could first hear the statement and then the government, if need be, would consider about the JLC and not before, as was being pressurized. Unrelenting TDP members continued their slogan shouting forcing the Deputy Speaker to adjourn the House to meet again on Wednesday.(NSS).
