Hyderabad: Hailing the Karnataka Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde indicting Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and his Cabinet colleagues on illegal mines in that state, senior Telugu Desam Party leaders K Srinivasulu and V Narender Reddy on Thursday demanded that the state government release a `white paper’ on illegal mining in Anantapur.

Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, Mr K Srinivasulu alleged that a lot of irregularities have taken place during former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s tenure in the allotment of permits to mines in Anantapur district and caused losses to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees to the state Exchequer.

“However, the state government has not acted in a responsible manner and had not take any action against the guilty officials,” the TDP leaders said.

They added, “At least now the government should open its eyes and take strong action against the guilty officials as per the Law.”

Mr Srinivasulu appealed to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to act in a responsible manner ‘at least now’ and initiate action against the guilty officials who had nodded for the permits and prevent further losses to state Exchequer.(INN)
