Hyderabad: The senior Congress leader from Anantapur district, Mr J C Diwakara Reddy, has that the main regional party in the State, the Telugu Desam party has to take an initiate to bring about consensus within the party so that the ruling Congress could announce its decision on the burning separate Telangana State issue.

Speaking to the media on the Assembly premises here on Friday, the former minister said the Union Home Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram’s statement in the Lok Sabha on Friday was correct and it was the State parties’ responsibility to solve the Telangana issue instead of throwing it to the court of the Centre.

Finding fault with the BJP stand in Parliament, Mr Diwakara Reddy said the TDP Chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, had prevented the previous BJP-led NDA government from creating separate Telangana State.

He said that there was no scope of creation of separate Telangana State and the Centre has to maintain the status quo on the State and try to develop the backward regions.
